Lifestyle Communities Proud to Support Gwen for A Cure and the PA Foundation

Columbus, Ohio, August 27, 2007 – Lifestyle Communities announced today that the Second Annual Gwen for A Cure Cornhole Tournament and Tailgate Party to benefit the Propionic Acidemia (PA) Foundation will again be hosted at their Preserve Crossing location in Gahanna, Ohio. The 64-team tournament will be held on September 29, 2007, beginning at 12:00 PM. The venue, staffing, concert tickets and event t-shirts will be donated by Lifestyle Communities to the PA Foundation.
The event will include a silent auction featuring items such as a Myrtle Beach Vacation and OSU football tickets, and a raffle for a vintage 1969 Corvette Stingray Coupe. Registration in the double-elimination tournament for a two-person team is $50. The tournament winner will receive $300, with second and third place prizes of $200 and $100, respectively. All proceeds from the event will be donated directly to the PA Foundation, an organization devoted to finding a cure for Propionic Acidemia.
Propionic Acidemia is a rare disorder that is inherited from both parents. Neither parent shows symptoms, but both carry a defective gene responsible for this disease. Individuals with PA cannot break down parts of protein and some types of fat due to a non-functioning enzyme called PCC. This causes a build-up of dangerous acids and toxins that can damage vital organs such as the brain, heart and liver, cause seizures and delay normal development like walking and talking.
