Shannon is a 20-something Client Manager residing in LC New Albany with her dog, Kenzie. She let us come inside her suburban apartment and shared how she’s transformed this one bedroom space into her home.
How would you describe your style? If I had to describe my style in just a few words it would be modern farmhouse. I gravitate towards neutrals, so my space is a lot of beige, white, and browns. My favorite neutral piece has to be my couch. I love how deep it is and the big fluffy pillows make it incredibly comfortable. Plus, it looks way more expensive than it is; I got it from Value City Furniture! I also like to incorporate wood elements to create textural differences. You can see this in my coffee table, wooden plank tray, and even picture frames scattered around the place. But, if I had to pinpoint my absolute favorite part of my decor, it would be that my dog, Kenzie, matches it.
What is your favorite element in your home? I love the open layout of my apartment. The living room and kitchen are essentially one giant room with an island dividing the two. It’s awesome for daily living as I can fit several bar stools along the island so I don’t have to waste space on a kitchen table. It also makes it very easy to host gatherings. There’s plenty of space for everyone and the island can easily hold all of the snacks and drinks.
What do you love about living in LC New Albany? Definitely all the amenities offered. My previous apartment community didn’t offer any amenities and they’re such a benefit of living at LC. I love having The Goat just a few steps away for an easy meal. I literally order the burger and sweet potato fries every single time I go; they’re that good! I also like having the resort style pool for some fun in the sun during the summer, a full gym, and all the green space for Kenzie to enjoy.
What do you like best about the neighborhood? I really like suburban living in general. There’s not as much traffic and craziness out here but I’m still close enough to downtown that it is an easy commute to the Short North for weekend activities. If I don’t head downtown, I love that there are still things continuously happening in New Albany. I especially enjoy going to the farmer’s markets at Market Square in the summer, which is just a short 5 minute drive away.
Where do you spend a typical Saturday in Columbus? I usually wake up and start my day with a workout. I’ve been doing Orange Theory which is a quick 5 minutes drive away, but I’m definitely excited for the new CODE gym to open here; I love trying out new workout classes! After my workout, I usually run errands and try to tackle my to-do list. Once that is accomplished, I’ll take Kenzie for a walk through the community. There are always so many people out with their dogs that it’s an easy way to meet new people too!
