Second LC Riversouth Building May Rise Up to 10 Stories Tall
While construction has officially begun on the first of two new apartment buildings from Lifestyle Communities at the Downtown intersection of High and Rich Streets, the second building still has a few details that need to be sorted out. The project was originally conceived as a single seven-to-eight story building, and was later updated to include a second “mirrored” building on the opposite side of Rich Street. Tomorrow morning, the Downtown Commission will review an updated proposal to take the second building even taller, to 10 stories.
“We continue to believe that Rich Street has the opportunity to be a true corridor to Downtown given the Rich Street bridge and nearby attractions such as Columbus Commons,” stated Russell Boiarsky, Director of Marketing at Lifestyle Communities. “We have put a lot of care into developing the northwest and southwest corners of Rich and High to create an attractive, walkable neighborhood while integrating well into the Columbus skyline.”
The expansion to 10 stories will allow for the accommodation of 137 apartment units, while the eight story building will have 106 units. The recently completed Highpoint at Columbus Commons contains 301 apartment units at the northeast corner of High and Rich, while the 250 High development currently under construction at the southeast corner will contain 156 apartments.
In addition to apartment units, the two buildings will include courtyards for residents, private amenities and public restaurant space.
