Shopping Local in NuLu

General LC News01/14/2018

There are a lot of perks to a city growing as quickly as Louisville. Benefits like more great restaurants and drink options, entertainment and experiences, and local shops and boutiques throughout the neighborhoods (like NuLu) are just a few of them. We’re honing in on the latter in this post, because we think shopping local is key to connecting with your city. After all, who better to support than your own friends and neighbors? Have any other favorites we should check out? Share them in the comments on Instagram and Facebook (@lifestylecommunities).

SCOUT on Market

720 East Market Street

Louisville, Kentucky 40202

SCOUT opened in 2004 in the heart of NULU as a small home accessories and giftware shop. Over the years, they have grown and evolved into a modern, eclectic mix of furniture, home & personal accessories, artwork, jewelry and giftware.

They wholeheartedly believe that no one should take themselves too seriously, and invite guests to stop in and share a laugh with them or buy that special someone the perfect one-of-a-kind gift. Take a look at some of their coffee mugs and we bet they’ll have you smiling. Open Monday - Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 11am-3pm.

Red Tree

701 East Market Street

Louisville, Kentucky 40202

You might have recognized the distinguishable yellow wall at Red Tree in our IG post. Thanks to impressive inventory, it’s not the only thing that sticks out at this cool shop. Red Tree was established in 2002, and their concept features imported furniture, gifts, lighting, and home and office accessories.

Perhaps their most notable items are affordable, high quality handcrafted furniture of kiln dried solid Mahogany. Many traditional methods are used in the construction of unique accent pieces, including subtle distressing. Red Tree’s factories also use 100% sustainable materials and participate in replanting programs to help minimize impact on the environment. All the more reason to shop for something of your own. Stop in and see them Monday - Thursday from 10am-5pm, Friday & Saturday from 10am-6pm and Sunday from 10am-4pm.

Revelry Boutique Gallery

742 E. Market St.

Louisville, KY  40202

Revelry Boutique Gallery has an amazing space in NuLu dedicated to supporting local Louisville talent. The boutique is full of handmade jewelry, art, and home décor, along with a room dedicated to screen prints and photography, called the Gallery. There, the art rotates and is welcomed each month by an opening reception, with an anniversary bash every year in August.

Revelry focuses on exhibiting both up and coming and established artists in Louisville’s thriving art community. Visit them and you’re sure to learn more about a new artist or gain inspiration from displayed art. They also stand by a goal to make art accessible to everyone, offering affordable pieces and a special layaway program. Make sure you set some extra time aside to peruse the shop - it’s open Monday from 11am-6pm, Tuesday - Saturday from 11am-7pm and Sunday from 11am-5pm.

Peace on Earth

801 E. Market St.

Louisville, KY  40206

After working as a baker for several years, Leslie Bowers started making hand crafted, small batch soaps in 2006. What started as a small soap collection has now grown to a complete line of eco-friendly bath, body and home products called Peace of Earth. While the company continues to grow and expand, all products are still made by hand using the finest naturally-sourced materials (often local and organic) and eco-friendly packaging. Sounds good to us!

In addition to a pretty expansive product line, their NuLu shop also offers a variety of gifts, jewelry, home accessories and children’s items. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 12pm-3pm.
