Five Holiday Decorating Tips

Make the season merry and bright with these quick and easy holiday decorating tips.

A warm welcome
An easy and inexpensive way to show your holiday spirit is to start with your own front door. Add a little sparkle to the season with a festive wreath or create a holiday message with paper mache letters to add a unique twist.

Pretty pillows
Spruce up your living room furniture with new throw pillows for fun décor without the fuss. Check your local store for seasonal items, or get crafty and make your own! Stick with similar colors or patterns to keep things effortlessly chic.

Creative centerpiece
Your dining room table is the perfect place to make a statement this holiday season. If you have limited space, use candles and candle holders at varying heights to create a soft, cheerful atmosphere. Looking for that wow factor? Impress your guests with fresh-cut flowers (red roses, for example) tucked into metallic vases to add some extra shine. Weave garland around the base of the vases to create a finished look.

Custom coasters
Give your guests a unique place to set their drinks with custom photo coasters. Go the traditional route and include family members or friends, or grab your camera and capture some winter scenery. Are you a movie buff? Look for some of your favorite holiday movie quotes, print and cut them in squares, place inside the coasters, and voila! You’ll be making spirits bright in no time.

See the light
Possibly the simplest way to decorate for the holidays is to hang lights inside your home. With plenty of options ranging from large bulbs to small, bright colors or soft white, you can’t go wrong with a string light set (or two). Hang them from the kitchen island, down the staircase banister or anywhere else your heart desires – the more the merrier!
