National Walking Day is April 6th - join the movement.
Warmer weather is approaching, so it’s the perfect time to take the pledge - a pledge toward a healthier, happier heart for years to come. On April 6th, join LC in celebrating the American Heart Association’s National Walking Day by bringing your tennis shoes to work for a mid-day walk or inviting a friend on a walk. Walking is one of the simplest forms of exercise that can produce an enormous impact on your health. Regular walking can reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke by lowering blood pressure and raising good cholesterol. The AHA recommends 150 minutes of cardio per week to reap these benefits, so here are some ways to get there:
- Just getting started? Exercise can be a daunting task, but breaking it down into smaller goals can make it easier. Your LC property has a great system of sidewalks to get started. Check out the AHA’s Walking 101 for more info or talk to your Om Fitness Club Fitness Specialist.
- Need to amp it up? Join a challenge or find others to get involved like wearing a FitBit or other step-based challenges.
- Already an avid exerciser? Encourage others to join you and shift the norm. Haven’t seen a friend in a while? Instead of just “doing lunch,” pick a place with a park nearby so you can add in a walk after.
