Best Spots to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth in Louisville

Discover some of the top spots in the city for sweet treats and tasty bites.

When it comes to dessert, the options are endless and the opinions are strong. Chocolate, popsicles, cake, cookies, cupcakes, ice cream - everyone has a go-to choice to satisfy that sweet tooth. Luckily for you, Louisville has no shortage of delightful bites and ahh-inducing treats to help you indulge. After all, you’ve earned it! Let’s take a look at some of the best spots in the city and put a little sweetness in your day:

Chocolate Chip Cookie
Please & Thank You (@plsthnks)
800 East Market Street

This small-batch bakery, coffee house and record shop wasn’t kidding around when it dubbed its chocolate chip cookie the best in Louisville. Equal parts crunchy and gooey, their signature sweet treat is worthy of a visit all its own. Combine that with locally roasted Good Folks coffee and a vintage record ambiance and you’ve got yourself a must-see spot. It should come as no surprise, then, that Please & Thank You was recently named Kentucky’s most recommended restaurant, according to Facebook. Low on time but still want the treats? You can take some of the goodness to go with their take home ready-to-bake mixes. Just don’t forget the napkins.

Pops

1021 Bardstown Road

Ok, we know what you’re thinking. Who in their right mind would choose a popsicle over a warm chocolate chip cookie or freshly baked cupcake? A smart person, that’s who, because these aren’t your average, run of the mill popsicles. Oh no, no, no. These are all-natural, gluten-free and vegetarian fruity and creamy delights on a stick. Sweetened with raw, organic cane sugar, you can indulge your sweet tooth without any of the accompanying guilt or regret. Plus, with flavors like Lavender Lemonade, Pineapple Jalapeno, Chocolate Chili and more, you can experience combinations you’ve never considered before. Pro tip: try their top seller, Strawberry Lemonade.

Cupcake
JB Cakes (@jbcakeslou)
1101 Goss Avenue

Cupcake. One of the best seven-letter words in the English language. Put the phrase “build your own” in front of that and you have all the makings of a dream come true. That’s what JB Cakes in Germantown is serving up to customers and we highly recommend a visit as soon as possible. With more than 10 cake flavors, multiple buttercream and cream cheese icing options and plenty of toppings, the only thing holding you back from the ultimate cupcake is your imagination. Stop in for a visit and share your favorite flavor combination with us.

Ice Cream
Louisville Cream (@louisvillecream)
632 E. Market Street

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. Well, the folks at Louisville Cream heard you and are answering with some of the creamiest, tastiest ice cream this side of the Mississippi. Until Summer 2017, you could only find their delicious creations at festivals and events. Thankfully, they opened their first storefront in NuLu, open Wednesday through Sunday every week (they even offer catering, too), so you don’t have to wait for an event to start savoring the flavor.

Speaking of flavors, do yourself a favor and sample as many as you can. From Avocado Mole to Brown Sugar Brie and Lemon Poppy Seed to Sweet Beer Cheese and Pretzel, they’ve got you covered. Better yet, they’re able to create custom flavors, too. If you can dream it, they can make it. Find out more here.
