Tips and tricks of the trade for kicking up the flavor in prepping chicken, from your Fitness Specialists at Om Fitness Club.

Here are a few meal prep tips that will help "spice up" a staple in your diet, and still have time to enjoy your day. Check out the pro tips on how our Om Fitness Club team likes to prep chicken for meals. 

  • Prepping the Meat: Find a large bowl, fill it about halfway with water, and put all of your chicken breasts/tenders in the bowl. Grind some fresh salt in the bowl to ensure that your chicken contains moisture and doesn't dry out. The salt will bring the water into the chicken breast. 
  • Seasoning for Taste: There are simple, creative ways to turn up the flavor with spices, sauces and breading.  Use a combination of coconut flour, coconut oil and egg for a healthier alternative to breaded chicken.  Coconut oil is a rich oil that provides essential nutrients your body needs.  Heat a skillet up to a little above medium. Scoop 2-3 Tbsp of coconut oil into the pan and let it melt. Find two containers with a flat bottom. Pour the coconut flour about an inch thick into one and crack 2-3 raw eggs into the other. Once the skillet is ready, dunk each tender into the egg followed by the coconut flour. Make sure to get a nice coating on the chicken tender, then place each tender in the skillet, and cook 6-8 minutes on each side.
  • Stuffing with Extras: There are so many ways to change up your recipes by stuffing the chicken breast full of goodies. Cut a slit from the top of the breast at a diagonal angle, and make sure that there is still plenty of connection at the bottom so that your ingredients don’t fall out. Use different combinations of ingredients like sun dried tomatoes, spinach, goat cheese, garlic, provolone cheese, pepperoni, and blue cheese to enhance the flavor of the chicken.  Put the chicken breasts onto a pan, and toss them in the oven at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
