With the holiday season officially in full swing, we partnered with our interior designers to bring you the hottest tips + tricks for decorating your apartment home this December. From what to do if your space doesn’t have a fireplace to making your own modern wreaths, we’ve got you covered.
No Fireplace, No Problem
No fireplace in your apartment? Oh no! Where are your stockings going to go now? A credenza or tv stand is a perfect stand-in for a space without a fireplace. Add garland, different sized trees, and hang stockings off the edge and you won’t even remember that your space was missing a fireplace.
Hot Chocolate Cart
Having company for the holidays? Turn your bar cart into a seasonal hot chocolate cart with the addition of festive mugs, a jar of hot chocolate, and drink toppers such as candy canes and marshmallows. Finish it off with small Christmas trees and Christmas quote signage.
Cozy Couch Upgrades
This one is easy! Add holiday themed pillows and fur blankets to your couch for pops of festive color and added comfort. Switch up the sizes, shapes, and textures; your pillows don’t need to match!
Looking for a more modern approach to wreathes? Make your own with only a few simple pieces: metal floral hoops, garland, and fishing line. Once you’ve purchased supplies from your local craft store, cut the garland and use the fishing line to attach the garland piece to the ring.
Upgrade your old tree topper with this interior designer trick. Buy 20-30 floral stems from your local craft store; we did half frosted eucalyptus stems and the other half red berries. Starting about a foot from the top of your tree, push the stems into the tree, alternating the two types. There shouldn’t be any need to secure them; the tree limbs will hold them in place.
