Lauren is a 20-something Cleveland transplant now residing in the Columbus suburbs in an effort to be close to her job at the Abercrombie & Fitch Home Office. Just by looking at her ensemble and apartment, it is clear that working in the fashion industry has given her a strong sense of personal style in wardrobe and home decor. Lauren showed us around her home and let us in on all of her decor secrets.
How would you describe your style? If I had to describe my style in one word, I would say I’m minimalistic. I don’t have a lot of clutter in my apartment; I’m actually super clean and organized! I also decorate with mostly neutrals. I have a lot of whites, beiges, and grays worked into the space. I like to break up the neutrals with mirrored pieces (such as my TV stand) and gold accents. I’m also pretty crafty so there are a lot of DIY pieces in my home. I made the dreamcatcher piece above the TV from a stick found in the woods and spray painted the “EAT” sign in my kitchen and the monogram above the couch.
What are your favorite elements in your home? My favorite part by far has to be the open floor plan. I like that the kitchen and living room are one giant room so you never feel cramped and it’s easy to host guests. I also love how the island gives me extra space for preparing food. I never feel like I don’t have enough space when it comes to prepping dinner on a nightly basis or hosting a group of my friends.
What do you like about living at LC Gahanna? I was initially drawn to live with LC because of the awesome location. I’m a short drive from work, making my daily commute a breeze. On the weekends, I can still get down to the Short North with a short Uber ride, so it’s the best of both worlds. The amenities here are also great! The free workout classes at the gym are always amazing and having The Goat within the community makes it an easy and fun place to hang out. The Veggie Gyro is definitely my favorite thing on the menu; you have to try it!
Where do you spend a typical Saturday in Columbus? If it’s nice out, I like to take my dog for a nice long walk around the community with my boyfriend. All the greenspace in the community is awesome if you are a dog owner. Actually, my dog thinks the greenspace in front of our apartment is his own personal front yard and defends it as his property which is pretty funny with him being so tiny. We also like to go to Easton to shop around or grab something to eat; it’s nice that it’s under 15 minutes away!
