Meet Hannah, a Murfreesboro native that has lived at LC Germantown for over a year and a half with her dog, Teddy. She loves reading horror books (check out It and The Exorcist on her bookshelf,) listening to EDM, and has the most rewarding day job as an operating room nurse at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. We sat down with her to find out more about design inspiration and some of her favorite neighborhood spots.
How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as bohemian. I like mixing new pieces, like my couch, with vintage pieces that I’ve found at local antique shops, including my coffee table and tv stand. There are also reminders of my grandmother scattered around my space. She passed away when I was 10, so having these pieces to remember her by is so special to me. The perfume bottle above the TV and necklace hanging off the shelves near my bed were both hers. I don’t like to stick to conventional decorating styles--I hide goofy little things around the room, like the gnome on my side table, because every time I catch a glance of them they make me happy.
What is your favorite element in your home?
I love how unique but practical the sliding door is in my apartment. I’m in a studio apartment, but the barn door allows me divide my apartment more than a typical studio would. I can shift it to close off the kitchen when I’m trying to keep Teddy in the main room or it can cover the hallway with my closet and bathroom in case someone needs some extra privacy.
What is your favorite part about living at LC Germantown?
LC Germantown has everything I was looking for in an apartment, which is why I actually ended up only touring this community when I was looking to move out on my own. The pool and gym were big factors in my decision--I love how spacious the CODE gym is so I can do my workouts without feeling cramped or on top of others. I also like how pet friendly this community is. There’s plenty of greenspaces and I feel safe walking around the neighboring areas with Teddy. In fact, my neighbor and I take our dogs for walks around the Germantown neighborhood every night.
Although I live at this LC community, my friends and I love to visit LC Mount Juliet on Sundays to play sand volleyball. It’s a great way to get out of the city for an afternoon and get in some exercise with friends.
What do you like best about the neighborhood?
The best part about the neighborhood is the walkability. There are so many amazing restaurants and shops within walking distance that I don’t have to leave Germantown to get a great cup of coffee or meet friends for drinks. Two of my favorite spots are: City House and Butchertown Hall. At City House, you have to try the pizza, and Butchertown’s queso is my favorite.
I also love having access to the Cumberland River Greenway trail--there’s an access point just behind the LC Germantown community. I use it all the time to walk Teddy, go on runs with my neighbor, or go on bike rides. You can grab a bike from one of the Nashville B-Cycle bike rental stations about a half mile away. It leads all the way to Broadway downtown so sometimes I’ll run or ride all the way there during the day just to do some people watching.
