Michelle has made LC Gahanna her home for four years now, and has mastered the art of separating work and play. Come inside to see how she transformed her den into a home office and how she utilizes the open floor plan on the main level to unwind after the workday.
How would you describe your style? I moved from Minneapolis a few years back and decided to completely change my style. I found this chandelier floor lamp from Restoration Hardware and immediately fell in love with it. I used this lamp as a starting point to design the rest of the space. I seem to gravitate towards feminine or modern pieces, so I would say a lot of my decor falls into those categories. But, I try not to put my style into a box. If I like something, I will buy it, even if it doesn’t seem to fit with my current style of decor. I’ve even started custom designing pieces, so they’re 100% me!
What are your favorite elements in your home? I love that my apartment is set up like a townhouse, so I have multiple floors and a lot of space. I work from home most days, so I’ve set up my home office in the first floor den area; it allows me to have separation from work and play. I also like the open layout of the second floor. When entertaining, my friends will congregate around the island in the kitchen (where the food is, of course) so the open floor plan gives me plenty of space to host guests. The best part has to be having an attached garage, though - especially during the winter!
What is your favorite part about living in LC Gahanna? In the summer, I love that the pool feels like you’re on vacation. There’s bar service from The Goat so you don’t even have to bring your own food or beverages. I also enjoy all the greenspace in the community. I have such a gorgeous view from my living room windows and balcony. By far though, what I appreciated the most is having such great neighbors throughout the four years I’ve lived here. Everyone is so friendly and respectful! I even ended up dating one of my neighbors for a few months.
What do you like best about the neighborhood? The location is so convenient! I’m so close to everything. Whether I want to go shopping at Easton, go for a fun dinner with friends, or run errands, everything is just a short drive away.
Where do you spend a typical Saturday in Columbus? I usually start the day with a workout class. I’ve danced my entire life, so I like to take a Pure Barre class or a dance class at Artisan. Then, I’ll meet up with friends for dinner or drinks. Hudson 29 in New Albany or Ocean Club at Easton are my go-to spots. I can’t recommend the steak at Ocean Club enough if you’ve never tried it!
