From basement speakeasies to spacious outdoor porches, we’re sharing four of our favorite places to grab a cocktail in Louisville.
Garage Bar
700 E Market Street
Louisville, KY
Recommendation: Honey Lavender Lemonade
Named for its former life as an autoshop, this trendy NuLu hangout is serving up hand-crafted cocktails along with an impressive list of local beers and bourbons. If it’s warm, be sure to take full advantage of their large outdoor porch complete with plenty of Astroturf-covered seating, glowing ping-pong tables, and cornhole.
Hell & High Water
112 W Washington Street
Louisville, KY
Recommendation: Calling Card
Ready to get transported to the prohibition era? Enter through the secret door of the unassuming Hello Curio shop and you’ll be taken downstairs where the modern world dissolves into red velvet booths, restored 1920’s antiques, and a two-story library. The bar serves unique craft cocktails along with small bites from local vendors.
Butchertown Grocery
1076 E Washington Street
Louisville, KY
Recommendation: New York Sour
Tucked within a 19th-century building within the confines of the Butchertown neighborhood, Butchertown Grocery is serving up New American fare & artisanal cocktails. With a menu like theirs, we won’t blame you if a couple of cocktails turn into a full fledged meal; we can’t resist the pasta either!
Pin + Proof
400 S 2nd Street
Louisville, KY
Recommendation: Bee’s Knees
Enter the Omni Hotel, turn left off the lobby, and look for the discreet “shhh” neon sign denoting the hidden entrance to Pin + Proof. This speakeasy-inspired bar features plenty of seating along with four bowling alleys and vintage cocktails. We hope you brought your A-game!
