Meet Alyssa. She’s a Murfreesboro native, newly wed, and dog momma with an eye for interior design. Come along as we explore her apartment home in LC Murfreesboro and get the inside scoop on her design secrets and favorite neighborhood spots.
How would you describe your style?
Once my husband and I moved into together, our styles began to mesh together into the home that you see now. It was so much fun getting to put together this space and find items that matched both of our styles. I would describe it as a crossover of bohemian and farmhouse.
What is your favorite element in your home?
One of my favorite little nooks is the coffee cart in our kitchen. I’m totally fine drinking Keurig coffee but my husband is into experimenting with his coffee so I knew I needed to create a space for all of his coffee accessories. I found this cart on Facebook Marketplace and it fits perfectly in the back of our kitchen. We didn’t have a large enough kitchen in our last place, so I was so excited to be able to create a dedicated space for his coffee hobby here.
What is your favorite part about living at LC Murfreesboro?
Before this apartment, I lived in a third floor unit. It was so difficult to bring up the groceries and take Murphy out for walks. To make things worse, there wasn’t much greenspace for Murphy to play or sidewalks for walks. I love that LC is so pet friendly and has more of a neighborhood feel with all of the grassy areas and winding sidewalks. Taking Murphy on nightly walks around the community has been such a great way to get out some of his energy as well as meet some of our neighbors--everyone is so friendly here!
It’s also nice being within walking distance of The Goat. I’ve eaten at The Goat for years--it’s actually how I originally found out about the LC community--so I love being able to take a night off from cooking and walk over there for dinner. I challenge myself to try something different each time, but the Southern BLT is one of my favorites. My husband is vegan and the veggie burger is his go-to item.
What do you like best about the neighborhood?
I actually grew up in Murfreesboro so LC Murfreesboro is in perfect proximity to my family, as well as a lot of my favorite stores. One of our favorites is a local coffee shop, Just Love, and it’s just a short five minute drive away. My husband and I had our first date there so we’ve made it a tradition to wake up every Saturday and go there for breakfast. After breakfast, we always take Murphy to the nearby dog park, Murfreesboro Bark Park.
